DFW EDUCATION COLLABORATION TO HOST CELEBRITY HAPPY HOUR FOR NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

20 Local Organizations Uniting to Support Students Across North Texas

DALLAS, TX, September 6, 2017—Across North Texas, 20 education organizations have teamed up to share one unified message: our children have unlimited potential, but many have limited opportunities. On Wednesday, September 13th, the organizations that make up the newly-formed DFW Education Collaboration are joining forces to host a Celebrity Happy Hour featuring Mayor Mike Rawlings! The event, which takes place 5:30–7:30 pm at Mac’s Southside in Dallas, aims to increase awareness for issues facing our students and unite the community around a common cause—providing our students an equitable education.  And for an added boost, our friends at Educate Texas, an initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas, have donated $5,000, which will be allocated across the organizations within the Collaboration who help bring attendees to this event.

Mayor Rawlings will give brief remarks, along with Commit! Executive Director Todd Williams, and Educate Texas Managing Director George Tang, at the event hosted by: Bachman Lake Together, City Year, Commit!, Dallas Teacher Residency, Education Opens Doors, Educational First Steps, Leadership ISD, Seeds to STEM, Stand for Children, Step Up, Teach For America, Trinity River Mission, United to Learn, Urban Teachers, and Year Up DFW.

In order to create lasting change, our community must have a greater awareness of the challenges kids face. To learn more about the DFW Education Collaborative, please visit: https://dfweducationcollab.org/
